Weekend at home...

Well, it was Friday afternoon and I was all packed and ready to go to Colorado. I started feeling a little bit sick, but thought it would go away. I cooked my boyfriend some pizza and progressively felt worse. I tried to eat...but nothing would stay down. Turns out I had some sort of flu...and had to cancel my trip to Colorado. Later that evening after sitting in my room in Manhattan miserable all day...my friend Claire came to pick me up to take me to my home in Kansas City for the weekend. Whenever I am sick there is nothing more that I want then to be in my bed and have my parents take care of me. So my fun weekend in Colorado turned out to be a weekend at home on the couch or with my parents.

I felt a lot better today and went to church with my family, after church we went to Weston, Missouri, where they had a big Apple Festival. We bought lots of apples and went around and looked a old antiques in the town of Weston. It was a very nice outing with my Mom, Dad, Brother, Grandma, and Aunt!

Then it was nice to enjoy my home and the lake with my family! The picture above is a view from my bedroom window...something I saw a lot of this weekend!

Off to Colorado!

Today I'm leaving for a much needed trip to Colorado! I'm really excited, I'm going with one of my best friends, Victoria, she is from Ft. Collins! I'm not really looking forward to the long drive, but it will be worth it once we get there!!

First Day Blogging

So...today is my first day to blog. I am blogging for my Language Arts Methods class because we are practicing strategies for teaching in an elementary classroom.

My name is Maggie, and I'm in a senior in Elementary education at Kansas State University. I'm student teaching next semester in the Manhattan area. I look forward to having my own classroom next year!

I grew up in Kansas City, actually a suburb of Kansas City...Lake Quivira, Kansas. I have an amazing family that consists of my dad, my mom and an older brother, Frankie, who is almost 25. He will be getting married in November to the girl in the pink shirt, and I'm very excited! (I'm the girl in the greenish/yellow shirt).

So...a little bit about my life today. Tonight is Ali Kemp Bandstand! It is a benefit concert that my sorority puts on for a former sorority member that was tragically murdered in 2002. All the money that is raised tonight goes to the TAKE foundation (The Ali Kemp Education Foundation) which puts on Self Defense classes for women and girls all over the country. The main musician playing tonight is Ben Rector! He is one of my favorite artists! His music is great (and he happens to be staying in my extra bedroom at my house)! Well, everyone should definetly come to the concert tonight! I'm pretty excited!!! Or if you can't make it...listen to his music!!

Well that was my first blog ever! Hope you enjoyed it! And have a wonderful day!!
